Overdimensional Permits

Overdimensional permits are governed by Traffic Bylaw No. 1946. This Bylaw regulates maximum dimensions and weight restrictions for roadways throughout our City.

Application

Applications must be submitted a minimum of 3 working days before the move.

Come to City Hall, 1291-101st Street to make payment. We are open Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed for statutory holidays.

We accept payment by:

  4. Debit card

You can drop off payment anytime in our secure drop box. This is at City Hall, 1291-101st Street, in a slot by the door that is closest to the corner of 13th Avenue and 101st Street.

Include your payment stub with your payment in a sealed envelope.

Permit conditions

  1. The applicant must give a minimum 3 working days’ notice to when the move of the above load will be carried out to give time to coordinate the move. The applicant must contact these companies prior to the planned move.

  2. Once the permit is applied for, the applicant must travel the route to determine they can safely manoeuvre without causing damage to any City Infrastructure, prior to issuance of the permit.
  3. The applicant hereby agrees that if a permit is issued as applied for, the applicant will pay the full amount of any damages resulting or arising from or during the course of the travel for which the permit is sought and will indemnify the approving authorities listed below against any such damages or injury. (Attach copy of Bond of Indemnity or Insurance Policy in the amount of at least $1,000,000.00)
  4. The applicant hereby agrees that, if a permit is issued as applied for, that the said applicant will pay any charges levied for the supplying of such persons and/or equipment as may be required to assist the applicant to travel the approved route with such costs to be paid at time of issuance of permit. See Schedule E for minimum charges.
  5. The applicant hereby agrees that, if a permit is issued as applied for, that the said applicant agrees to adhere to all Provincial regulations and City bylaws that may pertain to the above.
  6. The authorized agents, listed below, may suspend or revoke an Overdimensional Load Moving Permit where the applicant fails to abide by any condition of the permit or approval or where the applicant supplies false information pertaining to the dimensions of the load being moved.
  7. Payment of any charge or cost levied for damages arising from the move is due thirty (30) days after the date of mailing of the bill.
