Costs

Requests for information may have application and processing fees as applied under the Act and Regulation. Here's what you need to know:

Application fees

There is no application fee for an access request for records containing only personal information about you.

There is a $20 application fee for personal information about someone else and for general information requests. 

  • Please note: The $20 application fee is mandatory at the time your application is made. The processing of your request will commence immediately upon the receipt of your fee.

Processing prescribed fees

This additional charge is over and above the initial application fee paid at the time you made the request. There are no processing fees for requests for access to records containing only personal information about you.

Fee estimate and waiver of processing fees

A fee estimate for providing the records you have requested will be issued to you when necessary (for example, a large number of records have been requested).
We calculate fees as follows:

Search and retrieval of documents $15 per half hour
Preparation time: severing a record /decision-making/consultation First hour free, $15 per subsequent each half hour
Photocopies of documents $1 per page plus GST up to 5 pages
More than 5 pages $0.50 plus GST per copy.
  1. Your permission to continue processing the application will be requested.

  2. You may be required to pay a 50 percent deposit before your request is processed, the balance of which will be due prior to the release of the responsive records.

  3. You can ask for processing fees to be waived or reduced for any reason, including financial hardship or public interest. In such cases you provide evidence to support this request (to note - a statement is not sufficient). 

Make your payment in any of the following ways:

Pay online using:

  • Credit Card
  • Visa Debit

Pay your $20 application fee online for general requests/requests for someone else's personal information, or make additional payments related to the Access to Information processing fees as instructed by the City Clerk.

Contact the City Clerk's Office regarding cash payments.

You can drop off payment anytime in our secure drop box. This is at City Hall, 1291-101st Street, in a slot by the door that is closest to the corner of 13th Avenue and 101st Street.

Include your payment stub with your payment in a sealed envelope.
