Your carts

If your cart is not at curbside for collection, you must store your cart on your property - and it's generally best to make sure the carts are stored in a location where they cannot be accessed by anyone but the residents of your home.

  • Bag or bundle all solid waste before tossing it in the trash.
  • The cart lid has to be completely closed to be collected.
  • Only recyclable materials should be going in the blue cart.
  • If you've got shredded paper for recycling, put it into a clear bag and tie it securely.
  • You are responsible for making sure your cart gets on the street for your curbside collection. Have it out before 7am on the day of your collection.
  • It is not recommended that you put your carts out for collection the night before.

Proper cart placement is important to waste collection. Review the general guideline PDF.

  • Carts should be placed on the street with wheels touching the curb or as close as possible to the curb.

  • You are responsible for placing carts past the boulevard or snow windrow.

  • Carts cannot block alley access.

  • Designated properties on a cul-du-sac, carts will be placed in the centre of the street for collection. Carts will be placed so that the serial number faces the right side of the cul-du-sac.

  • Designated properties on 100th street or in the downtown area will place carts on the edge of the sidewalk, nearest the street, with serial numbers facing the street. These carts are not be placed on the street.

Try arranging the contents of your cart with lighter items at the bottom. If the lid blows open, there is less of a risk that items may blow out.

  • You are responsible for placing carts past the boulevard or snow windrow
