Ref # WMF2025-01 Waste Management Facility Attendant - Full-time

The City of North Battleford has a full-time Scale House Attendant/Yard Attendant position available at the Waste Management Facility. Roles and responsibilities include: Control of traffic entering and exiting the WMF, maintain building and scale, collect tipping fees and complete tickets using the computerized scale and accounting program, observe and co-ordinate with the site equipment operator, impose approved tipping fees on all loads and direct loads to the appropriate area, follow safe work practices and procedures when performing duties, direct customers and traffic to the proper locations to dispose of waste materials, and monitor the types of material being disposed of and the areas where customers are disposing of the material at the WMF. Monitor waste materials locations, ensuring that all waste materials improperly deposited or scattered on site are collected and deposited in the correct locations, document and take pictures of any improper disposal of waste material by customers. Ability to maintain effective co-operative relations with staff and the general public is crucial.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or GED equivalent
  • Experience and knowledge of waste management facilities
  • Efficiency with Microsoft Suite programs (Word, Excel) and Point of Sale Equipment
  • Ability to maintain a Cash Drawer
  • Efficient to perform mathematical functions of moderate complexity, ability to calculate weight conversions and capability to estimate weights and costs.
  • Must be current with Vaccinations
  • Conflict Management skills are an asset
  • Must have a valid class 5 Saskatchewan Vehicle Operator’s License and provide a satisfactory drivers abstract upon hire. Class 3 is an asset.
  • Provide a clear satisfactory Criminal Record Check upon hire.

Rate of Pay:

Year 1 $22.01, Year 2 $22.89, Year 3 $23.80    

Hours of Work:

Rotating shifts, (40 hours per week - Summer / 30 to 32 hours per week - Winter)  Must be available on weekends.
