Ref # WMF2024 - Waste Management Facility (WMF) Attendant - Seasonal - April to October

The City of North Battleford has a Seasonal Attendant position available at the WMF. Roles and responsibilities include: Control of traffic entering and exiting the WMF, maintain building and scale, observing and co-ordinating with the site equipment operator, follow safe work practices and procedures when performing duties, direct customers and traffic to the proper locations to dispose of waste materials, and monitor the types of material being disposed of and the areas where customers are disposing of the material at the WMF. Monitor waste material locations, ensuring that all materials improperly deposited or scattered on site are collected and deposited in the correct locations. Document and take pictures of any improper disposal of waste material by customers. The ability to maintain effective cooperative relations with staff and the general public is crucial.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or GED equivalent
  • Previous experience with waste management facilities or municipal services is an asset.
  • Basic Microsoft Suite programs (Word, Excel).
  • Experience with cash handling and POS systems an asset.
  • Ability to complete laborious work in inclement weather.
  • Efficient to perform mathematical functions of moderate complexity, ability to calculate weight conversions and capability to estimate weights and costs.
  • Excellent customer service, conflict management skills, and the ability to deescalate difficult situations are essential.
  • Valid class 5 Saskatchewan Vehicle Operator’s License and provide a satisfactory drivers abstract upon hire.
  • Provide a clear satisfactory Criminal Record Check upon hire.
  • Up-to-date routine immunizations, including mumps, measles, rubella, tetanus, pertussis, diphtheria, polio and Twin Rix (Hepatitis A and B) are recommended. Typhoid immunization is suggested.

Rate of Pay:

$22.01 per hour (CUPE 2024 Rates)        

Hours of Work:

Rotating shifts (40 hours per week). Must be available on weekends.
