Ref # WEEDRD2025 - Roadways Weed Removal Summer Student ( May to September 1, 2025)

The City of North Battleford has a Summer Labourer position available in the Roadways Department. Reporting to the Roadways Supervisor, the Roadways Weed Removal Student is responsible for removing weeds and other vegetation growing through the sidewalks and roads.  This role performs manual duties while utilizing small hand and power tools, and other weed removal  / deterrent methods, use a computer to enter various reports and utilize effective customer relations skills.  The Roadways Labourer also drives light vehicles and participates in a team environment while ensuring safety procedures are adhered to.

Qualifications

•    Grade 12 or G.E.D. or equivalent or Post Secondary Student or equivalent.
•    Identify possible and probable causes / defects associated with weeds and vegetation growing in City infrastructure.
•    Knowledge of safety hazards associated with working in and around City streets, sidewalks and trails and appropriate safe work procedures.
•    Ability to train and use other weed removal / deterrent methods i.e. steam, weed burner, etc. including wearing personal protective equipment.
•    Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 license with a clean driver’s abstract.
•    Provide a satisfactory criminal record check with vulnerable sector upon hire.

Rate of Pay:

$16.36 (CUPE 2024)

Hours of Work:

8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday (40 Hours per week)
