Ref # FAF001 - Facility Operator - Floater - Full-Time - CUPE

The City of North Battleford has a full-time Facility Operator position available in the Parks and Recreation Department. This role is a support position within the City’s recreation facilities that works closely with building maintenance and requires considerable flexibility to provide support to the many different facilities such as the Don Ross Center, InnovationPlex, Don Ross Arena and Access Communications Centre in different capacities. The main responsibilities are to complete general caretaking, arena & parks operations, janitorial and cleaning duties required to maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the facilities.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or GED equivalent.
  • Knowledge of ice maintenance and janitorial work is an asset.
  • Varied equipment operation experience required 
  • Zamboni experience is an asset.
  • Ability to acquire the following certificates:
    • Arena Operator’s Certificate Level I (subject to availability of workshop)
    • Facility Maintenance Operations Certificate (subject to availability)
  • Must be flexible and adapt easily to new and unexpected situations; position often works alone with little supervision.
  • Standard First Aid/CPR “C”/AED - willingness to get within 3 months.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent work attendance and reliability.
  • Ability to adjust work requirements depending upon scheduled location
  • Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Drivers Licence.
  • Provide a clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Section upon hire.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete general caretaking, janitorial and cleaning duties required to maintain a high standard of cleanliness through the facilities.
  • Complete general Parks duties including mowing, whipping, shovelling and landscaping.
  • Identify and complete minor building maintenance task as needed. Such as minor repairs and touch-up painting.
  • Remove all trash from all garbage receptacles, and all paper from recycle receptacles.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of and replenish all supplies for all washrooms.
  • Support arena operators, including scheduled bookings, janitorial and cleaning duties and ice maintenance
  • Set up/take down, monitoring of program equipment- toddler, youth, adult
  • Provide training and mentorship to other facilities staff
  • Liaise politely and effectively between building users and public.
  • Understand and follow parks maintenance, cleaning & programming schedules and instructions
  • Supervision of patrons and visitors at Facilities.

Year 1 $25.22 Year 2 $25.84 Year 3 $26.49           

Hours of Work:

Rotating shift schedule (includes dayshifts, evenings, and weekends) 40 hours per week.
