Update on coyote trapping action at City Waste Management Facility

Update to coyote trapping activities at the City of North Battleford Waste Management Facility

In response to a risk to public safety, the City of North Battleford applied and was approved for a permit through the provincial government to initiate coyote trapping at the Waste Management Facility earlier this month. This was due to several coyotes aggressively seeking food sources on the landfill property, including approaching customers and staff at the Waste Management Facility.
To date, 20 coyotes have been caught using power snares and the coyote pack has been thinned enough for the City to remove snares effective January 30, 2026. The City of North Battleford will continue monitoring its landfill property to ensure that risks to the public remain minimal with the removal of the snares.
