Nomination packages for Councillor candidates now available for 2026 Municipal By-Election

Prospective candidates for the 2026 Municipal By-Election for the City of North Battleford can start assembling their required documents for Nomination Packages as of this week.

The Nomination Packages for candidates for the role of Councillor are available for
download on the City’s website. The Nomination Packages include a checklist to ensure candidates are on track to provide all required information to the Returning Officer during the Nomination Period – December 3-17, 2025. Nomination Packages will not be accepted before December 3rd, 2025, and must be received by the Returning Officer by no later than 4pm on December 17th.

Elections in North Battleford require the completion of a Criminal Record Check (CRC) from the Battlefords RCMP Detachment. The completed CRC Check must be submitted with the candidate’s Nomination Package and must be issued by the local RCMP detachment within the 30 days prior to the candidate submitting their nomination papers to the City of North Battleford. This process can take 5-7 business days to complete and candidates are reminded that Nomination Packages will be considered incomplete if the document is not submitted by the deadline on December 17th, 2025.

A candidate’s completed CRC Check which indicates a record is or may be present will not exclude the candidate from running for a position on City Council.

To request a paper copy of the City’s Nomination Package(s) or for any other election-related matters, please email elections@cityofnb.ca, call 306-445-1719, or visit https://www.cityofnb.ca/our-city-government/municipal-elections/.
