NBFD Chief set to represent Saskatchewan at national fire conference

North Battleford Fire Chief Lindsay Holm will be representing Saskatchewan at the upcoming Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs (CAFC) Fire Rescue Canada conference later this month.

The opportunity to speak at this conference comes as a result of Chief Holm’s position as 2nd Vice President of the Saskatchewan Association of Fire Chiefs (SAFC) board of directors. Chief Holm will be providing commentary to the CAFC regarding the current status of fire and protective services in Saskatchewan through the lens of his work with the City of North Battleford.

“I’m looking forward to representing the province and our community on the national front,” commented Chief Holm.

“What we are noticing across the province is very similar from community to community. I anticipate that we will learn that many of the same challenges are being faced straight across Canada. From our provincial perspective, I’ll be speaking about the additional demand on fire departments for increased medical calls for service due to drug overdoses, skyrocketing costs in fire apparatuses and equipment, and changes to fire legislation and policies which have detrimental impacts on frontline responders and municipalities.”

The CAFC represents more than 3200 Fire Departments across Canada. The Fire Rescue Canada conference is set for September 21-24, 2025 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
