Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man First Nation revealed as buyer in $1.93 million land sale in North Battleford
Following the large-scale announcement by Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man (MGBHLM) First Nation today, the community has confirmed it was the buyer for the 36.48 acres of land south of the Riverview neighbourhood. Council approved the sale to intermediary firm Strathworkscollab Inc. as a buyer representing a development group on August 20, 2025.
The land sale, valued at $1.93 million plus GST, is the largest of its kind in the City’s history. A number of conditions to finalize the sale were required, with City Administration expecting this to be completed by the imposed deadline of October 30, 2025.
At the ceremonial sod turning event this morning, Mayor Kelli Hawtin thanked MGBHLM First Nation leadership for their investment in North Battleford, and said the City looks forward to working collaboratively through the development process.
“As we move forward, we acknowledge that this plan requires important steps: zoning amendments, the establishment of service agreements, and extensive public consultation. These are crucial steps which ensure the development aligns with our shared vision and meets the needs of our entire community. We are committed to working openly and transparently with all stakeholders, and to fostering dialogue that strengthens trust and partnership.”
