Increased Enforcement at Douglas Avenue and Territorial Drive
The City is advising the public of increased enforcement at the intersection of Douglas Avenue and Territorial Drive following a rise in public complaints regarding drivers failing to obey the posted stop sign.
Reports indicate that multiple incidents at this location have created hazardous conditions and have nearly resulted in collisions. In response, Community Safety Officers (CSOs) will be actively monitoring the intersection and enforcing compliance under the Traffic Safety Act.
Motorists are reminded that failure to come to a complete stop at a stop sign carries a fine of $230.00 and 4 Demerit points. Drivers are urged to exercise caution, remain attentive, and adhere to all traffic control devices to ensure the safety of all road users.
The City remains committed to maintaining safe roadways and appreciates the cooperation of the public in helping reduce preventable traffic incidents.
