Household Hazardous Waste Day set for September 23rd

The second Household Hazardous Waste Day (HHWD) of 2023 is set for Saturday, September 23rd. The semi-annual events are an opportunity for all residents of the Battlefords region to safely dispose of materials which would be considered harmful to the environment – free of charge.

Improper disposal of hazardous materials can include pouring materials down the drain, onto the ground, into city sewers, or by sending it as trash to the landfill.

The City of North Battleford hosts two HHWD events per year to give residents the opportunity to properly get rid of toxic materials that can cause serious threat to the environment. Examples of accepted materials include adhesives, aerosols, fuel oil, cleaning products, corrosive materials, fuels and fuel mixtures, oxidizers, poisons, solvents, and more. Materials must be in their original containers or clearly labelled.

A comprehensive list of materials and some helpful precautions can be found on the City’s website.
Household Hazardous Waste Day is scheduled from 8:30am-4:00pm on September 23rd at the City’s Public Works Shop, located at 11112-6th Avenue.

No commercial loads will be accepted.
