City urges caution as North Saskatchewan River levels increase

With heavy rainfall and above-normal snowmelt in Alberta, the City of North Battleford expects the North Saskatchewan River to rise significantly in height and flow beginning June 26, 2026.

Water levels in the Battlefords could rise by up to two metres, with river flow nearly tripling. These conditions are expected to continue for several days. As a precaution, the City of North Battleford will close its boat launch effective June 25, 2026, until further notice.

For public safety, the City of North Battleford asks residents to avoid the river and riverbank area. A Voyent Alert has been issued with this information and will remain in effect until conditions improve. Residents can subscribe to this free notification service through the City of North Battleford website.
