Battlefords region welcomes evacuees from Montreal Lake; donations for supplies requested
Due to the wildfires and impact of wildfire smoke in northern Saskatchewan, the Battlefords region has welcomed another round of evacuees in the city – this time, it’s 140 visitors from Montreal Lake Cree Nation.
A number of identified items for evacuees are needed at this time. Should businesses or community members be in a position to donate any of these items, the list of priority items is as follows:
- Fruit
- Activity books, colouring books, markers, crayons, etc
- Books suitable for all ages (used condition is accepted)
- Board games, decks of cards, etc. (used condition is accepted)
- Non-perishable snack food items, with a particular need for baby food/snacks
- Baby formula
- Diapers, with a particular need for sizes 1, 2, and 6
- Pull-Ups
- Diaper cream
- Personal hygiene products
Donations may be dropped off at the Tropical Inn, Highway 16/Battleford Road between 9am and 8pm daily. The generosity of our region is very much appreciated and the City of North Battleford extends a warm welcome to those seeking shelter in our community.
