Annual Fall Compost Collection Program – Free Service for Residents

The City will conduct its annual compost and leaf pickup from Monday, October 20 through Monday, October 27, 2025. This free program helps residents divert organic waste from the landfill and prepares the city for the upcoming winter season.

How to Participate

  • Bag requirements: Use transparent bags or paper yard waste bags. Each bag may contain only leaves, grass clippings, and garden waste.
  • Size limits: Branches and twigs thicker than a pen are not accepted.
  • Placement: On your street’s designated “no on street parking” day, place the bags in front of your property, next to the sidewalk (not on the street).
  • Quantity: Residents may leave an unlimited number of bags for pickup.

City crews will collect the bags on the scheduled no parking day for each street. Bags that contain non-compostable material (e.g., tree branches) will be left for the resident to dispose of properly.

Special Note for Halloween Decorations
Residents who use Halloween themed garbage bags as decorations must remove and dispose of those bags correctly in November.

After October 27
Following the collection week, City staff will shift to winter preparation duties and will no longer pick up compost or leaf bags. Residents will be responsible for disposing of any remaining bags. Free drop off is available at the Waste Management Facility year round.
