Forward 2030: Healthy, Green, Safe & Strong: OCP

What is the Official Community Plan?

An Official Community Plan (OCP) establishes how a local government will grow. Development of North Battleford's OCP started in 2010 with the intention of a 30 year look ahead. The OCP will dictate public policy in terms of transporation, utilities, land use, recreation and housing.

"We are creating an updated plan that provides direction on a wide range of issues from land use to a strong growth management and sustainability focus. WE want residents to get involved as we develop the policies that will shape our City 30 years into the future." -- Tim LaFreniere, City Planner

The OCP is required under the Planning Act and is integral to the evolution of North Battleford. It is an opportunity to visualize opportunities and prioritize change.

Who is Involved?

The project involves the City of North Battleford as well as Crosby, Hanna and Associates who are consulting will all municipal departments and the community. All information and feedback will go into a report of objectives and policies to guide municipal decisions on planning.

How do I Get Involved?

Anyone interested in learning about and providing input to the OCP is invited to attend open houses, workshops and forums (please watch here for dates).

We are ensuring all citizens remain informed and included in the process via advertising and updates in this section.

Process

The OCP involves a four-phase work plan:

  • OCP Phase 1: Background
  • OCP Phase 2: Visioning
  • OCP Phase 3: Goals & Objectives
  • OCP Phase 4: Drafting the Plan
