Business Development continues throughout the City of North Battleford which has become and is known as the service "hub" of Northwest Saskatchewan.
2009 has certainly been a year of growth with commercial building permits totalling $4,964,000 as of August 31st -- exceeding total commercial building permits issued throughout all of 2008 at $4,611,000.
Some recent new developments include Mark's, Farm Credit Canada and Oil Can Charlie's. In addition, there are some major projects in the works. SaskPower is investing $250,000,000 in developing the Yellowhead Power Station in Parsons Industrial Park. The University of Saskatchewan is developing a $12,000,000 Canadian Feed Technology Research Facility and Golden Health Care Inc. is investing $8,000,000 in a Private Care Home.
Recently, the City of North Battelford held a sod turning for the Battlefords Multipurpose Facility which, once complete, will be a four component project housing a curling rink, performing arts centre, indoor soccer field and an aquatic centre. Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2010 and the economic spinoffs will be significant for many years to come.
The City of North Battleford is a major Saskatchewan tourism destination as we are situated in "lake country" and nearby Table Mountain Ski Resort. Local businesses certainly benefit from the resulting traffic flow.
