North Battleford is home to a large business base including well established industrial companies such as Maple Leaf Consumer Foods (the only bacon processing plant in Western Canada), Mifab Mfg, G & C Asphalt (LaFarge), Kindersley Transport, EnviroSafe Chemicals, Anderson Pumphouse, Unicon Pipeline, Cargill Ltd. and ALL major grain handling companies operate inland terminals that support the grain industry in the area. North Battleford is also a recognized transport and logistics centre.
Importantly, North Battleford's employment base is supported by diversified industries giving it a stable base. Estimates are for the continuation of strong job growth to occur for several years to due to a number of key projects occurring in the city.
Health Care and Community Services (17 per cent) continues to be North Battleford's main employment industry, however retail trade (14 per cent), business services (11 per cent), and educational services (9 per cent) all continue to be strong areas of employment. While agriculture and resource-based industries and manufacturing combined represent about 15% of our employment, the majority of these jobs are specialized skills in fabricating, welding, processing and are experiencing significant growth.
